A Mother's Love Lasts Forever

For most mothers, the love they feel for their children is a strong and powerful bond that will continue throughout their lives. The love a mother feels for her child is the same whether the child was grown in their own body or in their heart, as when a mother adopts a child.

My children are dear to me and I find it hard to see them in pain. I feel like a

mother hen watching over her baby chicks. Children are tough in some areas, but always need to know they are loved, wanted and are priceless to us, at any age. Even when our children don't need us any longer to tie their shoestrings or to wipe their noses, they still need to know that we care. Often a child will not feel the impact of their mother's love until they become a parent themselves or their mother is no longer living. Then, the power of a lifetime of love their mother provided sets in.

To love and accept our children, even when they are driving us nuts and their behavior is horrid is most challenging. But the mix of unconditional love and loving limits are the most important duties and obligations a mother can have. Hugs and kisses are a necessity. Love can be expressed in many other ways too, including the discipline and responsibility we give to our children. Eye contact and a simple touch on the shoulder or a love pat on the back mean so much and cost so little. Try today to think of ways you can show your children how much you love and value them.

Here are a few demonstrations of love I have found my children are fond of. You can adapt these suggestions according to the ages of your child.


Outward expressions of affection for your spouse such as holding

hands and warm hugs are good examples of love and security you can give to your children.



Tuck little thoughtful love notes in their lunches, written on a napkin or

notepaper or under their pillow.



Saying a simple, "I love you!" A smiley face or you're the greatest!



Ask them to read to you - whatever they want - for 10 minutes.



Spend time listening - this is sometimes hard with an active lifestyle,

but more important than ever. Even 5 minutes can do wonders for a child's self image. Remember good eye contact is one of the keys. Pull yourself away from the computer or desk and sit with them face to face. Mirror their body language, moving forward as they do, or sitting on the floor with them.



For younger children even up to 10 years old, holding them on your lap for a minute or two might seem silly, but most kids miss the times when they were younger and were just held and comforted.



With my teenage son, I ask him to sit next to me as we curl up and watch a movie together on the couch. At 6'2," he rolls his eyes, but he likes it. Now, on occasion, he does it from habit, but not in front of friends. Big kids need hugs too.



Share in their hobby or interest. For example, skateboarding may not be your adventure at 42, but ask them about how skateboards are made. Look at what they can do - kids love to show off to their parents, so watch. Listen for, "Watch this mom!" Put down what you're doing and really watch and praise them for their effort. Encourage them to keep trying. Smile and verbally respond.



Surprise them by buying their favorite magazine without being asked to. Just put it in their room with a little note - Thought of you today! Love, Mom



Take time to lie on blankets on the grass at night and look to the sky for shooting stars together. This is one we do as a family each summer and always have fun, looking up and just sharing, telling stories - listening to the crickets and being together. We fall asleep under the stars until it gets so cold that we all run indoors, dragging blankets behind us. These are no more than simple memory makers.



On occasion we have a "backwards day", where we eat dessert first and then the main course; kids love it when their parents are silly at times.



My ten-year-old daughter loves it when I unexpectedly put fresh flowers in a vase on her nightstand, a surprise when she goes to bed.



Let them make their own family photo scrapbook - try color copying some of photos in your photo albums - this way you are not losing valuable photos if they cut them up. Old cards and gift-wrap can make nice backgrounds and borders.



The best way to let them know you care is to hear it from you. In our family, every day we say, "Did I tell you today that I love you? Well I do and I love you more than all the leaves on the trees or all the minutes you are on the computer." That will prompt them to respond with how they love me more than all the sand pebbles or the raindrops that fell this month. Even the big kids need to hear this. They might act as if they are annoyed, but it is sinking in.



Whichever way you choose to share your feelings remember to do something each day. Experts agree that if a child receives their nurturing inside of the family, they are less inclined to look outside to others that might have other motives. Create a home where love is shown. Any parents, whether rich or poor, can afford this.



These simple and free actions can have a significant influence on our children's daily lives that will last for a lifetime. The cycle of love between you as a mother and your child will be passed on to their children all over again. Stop and enjoy them now. Before you know it, they will be grown and this time will be lost.

Addicted Love Between Mother and Baby

The love mothers feel for their babies is one of the strongest forces in nature. It is not only cultural, but also a basic part of human nature. In recent years, scientists have started to explore this mysterious but crucial part of human nature and discovered that mothers are hardwired to love their babies. When you finally get to hold your baby, you'll be practically swimming in the hormone. Oxytocin can break through your exhaustion and pain to give you a feeling of euphoria and intense love.
Oxytocin isn't the only chemical of love. As you hold or nurse your baby, both of you gets a rush of dopamine, the main currency of pleasure in the brain. While you're both enjoying the high, your baby's feelings for you are taking root. Moreover, animal studies give us an important insight into human love. In 2004, Italian researchers reported that baby mice that couldn't sense dopamine didn't care much if their mother was around or not, the strongest evidence yet that dopamine plays a crucial role in mother and infant bonding.
How to love your baby
If you are going to be a mother, congratulations, since you are going to experience the strongest love feelings since you were born. In pregnancy you should try to keep a distance from radiation sources like cell phone, microwave oven, if you need to face to a computer due to work reason, always wear a radiation-resistant garment . After your baby came into birth, nurse it with mother milk instead of milk powder, and spend more time with it, since loving contact with mom can speed a baby's growth and improve its sleep. If you can't accompany the baby for 24 hours, it's a good idea to choose a baby monitor, and don't forget to use adigital camerato catch and record the baby's daily life, in future you will find that it is an invaluable memory for your baby and your family !

Making Peace With Your Mother

It's hard enough on us when we're at odds with our mother when she's alive, but it's even more difficult if she passes away. My client recently left me a message letting me know how important it was to her that she had made peace with her mother and had no regrets when her mom died.



A Client's Story:

"My mother passed away this past week. and I was just thinking to myself how happy I am that I don't have any regrets. I wanna say thank you for the help you've given me over the past few years with trying to work through my anger and my frustration with her.



Being there for her at the end was really nice. I was with her when she died. I was the only one of us 3 kids that rushed to be there by her side, and I'm glad I went when I did. It was an amazing experience. We were able to tell each other we loved each other.



She told me I was her best friend. And then my dad told me he was really glad I was there. Of all of us 3 kids, he said that I had been the most helpful. It feels so good to have things cleaned up with my family.



The other thing is that I had a talk with a girlfriend and told her she should call you and come in to see you. She had a close call with her dad recently in that he had a heart attack (and is only in his 60's so that was really scary for her). It happened about the same time that my mom had her heart attack.



My friend has all the same issues with her mom that I did. Her mom won't communicate and be direct with her or deal with stuff about her dad's health.



Like my mom, she is being very manipulative and controlling through her dad's crisis. I was able to share with her how I had gone through all of that and why I first went to you and some of the things I learned from you. I hope she'll come and see you. C.S.in Denver.



Handling Difficult Mothers

As Mother's Day approaches, we think about our mom's and what gift to give her and what to say in our card to her. We often wish we felt closer and warmer than we do. Instead, many of us have felt hurt, rejected, manipulated,or controlled by our mothers. We feel a sadness or even anger when we read all the cards about "supportive, loving mothers." These are cards we can't send.



Whether you're mother suffocated you or was barely there, you can work through your issues with her. Resolving your issues with your mom will not only help you make peace with her but also will help you in your relationships with friends,lovers, bosses, etc.



At some level, we all seek the approval of our parents. And when we feel we don't get it (for whatever reason), we feel rejected and subconsciously assume that we're to blame and are not good enough in some way. This sticks with us and affects our self-esteem and affects all of our future relationships.



A mother is the first person to help us create high self-esteem and give us a sense of security. But she also has the power to do the opposite as well. Because of their own insecurities and problems they never resolve, they often hurt us (usually thinking they are protecting us).



As we become adults, we need to realize that our mother's behavior toward us is usually less about me and more about her. Her own personal problems have accidentally affected us. This only means that her criticisms and judgements about us are likely not true, but not that we excuse her bad behavior.



It is our job, however, to stop her from treating us badly.



What Makes Her a Difficult Mother?

-she avoids and denies my emotions

-she doesn't give me unconditional love, accepting me with my imperfections

-she still tries to control me, if not directly, then through guilt

-she doesn't speak up and tell me what's really going on and instead plays martyr or some other game

-she doesn't support me in my risktaking and growth to move ahead in life

-she criticizes me and makes me feel like I'm not smart enough to make good decisions



What To Do:

1) The key to resolving issues and making peace with our mothers is separating ourselves emotionally from them so that we see their hurtful behavior simply as "bad" behavior instead of taking it so personally; and then holding our mother's accountable for that bad behavior.



2) Take mom off her pedestal. She doesn't know what's best for you anymore; she just knows how to push your buttons.



3) Don't edit your conversations when you around her. Be yourself with her, not who she wants you to be.



4) Stop her if and when she starts criticizing you. Tell her to stop and then leave her presence or hang up if she continues.



5) Write her a letter letting her know that her judgement of you is wrong. Tell her how you are different from her and that you choose to be different from her. Let her know she can no longer judge or critize you, and that if she does, you will let her know some of her own faults. Tell her how you expect her to treat you in the future.

After she heard me and we worked it out, my heart warmed up so much that I had something else to tell her: "Mom, something good did come out of it all: playing therapist to you and dad made me the best relationship therapist ever! Afterall, I started at age 10."

But trust me, once you start speaking the truth with her and being yourself and stopping her from hurting you, you, like me and my client above, will warm up to her and be able to have a much closer relationship -- one like both of you have always wanted.

She was released only on the condition that she remains heavily medicated.


Nymphomania is a disorder said to show up in ten percent of women. It is marked by an insatiable desire to have repeated sexual intercourse. Catherine the Great was one of its famous victims. It is said that she made love to every member of the royal guard and some of their stallions. She died when she was kicked to death by a jealous Mare. Most psychiatrists say the disorder is incurable and if possible it should be ignored and allowed to continue. The Courts were full of claims from its victims who demanded that nymphomania should be legally declared a disabling disorder. It was impossible for them to be in a work place without making love to all the employees. The federal government has finally recognized Nymphomania as a disability and has issued monthly checks to its victims.


The three daughters discussed how their mother had ten husbands and had lost them all with her insatiable desire to make love. All ten of her ex- husbands were sex driven men who thought they had found the perfect match. Little did they know what the future had in store for them. None of the marriages lasted more than a year. Four of her husbands developed physical impairments from the sexual demands forced upon them. They limped away from the marriage, never to make love again.


The three daughters were not innocent victims of a sexually disordered mother; they too had their mother’s disorder. Each of them had married many times and chased away their husbands. No man can stay with a woman that is afflicted with Nymphomania for more than a year. But now the desire for money had temporarily subdued their lust. They now planned to get rid of their mother and enjoy their inheritance. After that was done they would take a long vacation in Rome and sample a few thousand Italian lovers.


It is rumored that there is a young and fantastic lover that lives in a villa in Switzerland. He is visited by rich sex crazed women who travel thousands of miles to spend some time with him. His reputation as a great lover is impeccable, and he is always available for the right price. The daughters had an idea; they would send their ninety year old mother to him. He would be instructed to keep her constantly in the bedroom. A bonus would be given to him if his sexual marathon exceeded forty eight hours. Their mother had two open heart surgeries and the encounter was sure to kill her. They put their plan into operation.


He was declared dead by the examining physician, and after careful examination was said to have died from exhaustion. The doctors were surprised that a twenty five year old man in perfect health would die from exhaustion making love to a ninety year old woman. His naked body was then shipped to the morgue.


The daughters were there to greet their mother, as she stepped off the plane after returning from Switzerland. She said that she was having a marvelous time until her lover ran out of steam and died. But she will shortly replace him. The daughters gave up the idea of getting rid of their mother and resumed their endless search for horny men.

The ideal holistic model is that which nature presents and it is clear that mother and child are meant to be intimate. Children cannot simply be cast off to be fed, clothed and housed as if that were enough. Society needs to take note of this important biology as more and more pressure is put on modern families and mothers to treat newborns as just another duty to schedule into the appointment book or to have serviced by a third party. By giving love the respect it deserves and making it the starting point of life, the odds are much greater that love will then blossom in children and be carried through to their children...and, who knows, perhaps continue on to the world at large. We could use a lot of that.
